It looks like we got bit by some false positives on some of our freeware.  We have identified the issue and want to inform users that our freeware does not and has never contained any Trojans.  The issue turned out to be a false positive warning by Avast against the Nullsoft Installer v2.37 when our Windows Shell based extensions were being registered on the system.

If you received the “Trojan” warning, the software may not function correctly after installation.  After we issue the updates to remove the false positive, first make sure you have the latest virus definitions installed for your antivirus software.  Then uninstall, re-download, and install the latest version of the software to enable it to work correctly.

We are currently updating our installers to v2.38 of the Nullsoft Installer which removes the false positives given by Avast.  We will post an update when they have all been updated.

The affected freeware and update status:

  • MuvEnum Address Bar - RESOLVED as of v2.1.0.0
  • IE Open Last Closed Tab - RESOLVED as of v4.1.0.0
  • IE Alias - RESOLVED as of v2.0.5.0
  • Send Path As Link By Email - RESOLVED as of v1.3.0.0

We thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

We are planning for scheduled server maintenance this evening.  During this time, the website and activation servers will be taken offline, temporarily.  We thank you for your understanding.

UPDATE: The server is back up and operational.  If you have any issues, please contact us.

On June 30th we celebrated our 3 year anniversary since the start of our company and the release of MuvAudio. It was a very exciting day not only because we were still happy to be around, but because we were nearing completion of a couple of new projects.

The first project was given away in the title of this post; our new website. When we released MuvAudio v1.0, we developed our first website which to say the least, was amateurish. We were just starting out and we’ve definitely learned a lot since then. At that time we really didn’t know if MuvAudio would sell well, but this post is testament to the fact that it did.

When we released MuvAudio 2.0 a little over a year later, we released our second version of the website. This one was better, but it definitely wasn’t going to hold the test of time, especially since we had developed it to only host one product, MuvAudio.

It’s been two years since v2.0 of our website was released. It was definitely time for a new website that combined all of our current and upcoming products into a central, easy to navigate location. It was time for MuvEnum: The Website v3.0. This time we got a little help though because we had a lot of projects going on and felt that someone dedicated to the task could do it better. We asked Evan Eckard if he’d help us out. Not only was he priced well, but he did an excellent job. We had him do the design, which we had tweaked again and again to get it just right (we’re pretty picky so that’s our fault). To help with design he also filled in a lot of content which we took and improved upon. Remember, he’s a designer not a copy-writer, but the boiler plate material was very helpful in visualizing the look. Lorem ipsum just tends to get old after awhile.

Everything Evan did was very clean. We were able to take the few pages we had him layout and push out a bunch more that we designed based on modifications to his css classes and html. We then implemented some Prototype and used Highslide (definitely worth the price) to give the site a little bit of ajaxification. We’ve gotten a lot of positive comments about the site and we’re thankful for that. We can’t recommend Evan Eckard enough!

As a quick overview, www.muvaudio.com, www.muvextoe.com, and www.muvixer.com now all point to pages under www.muvenum.com. We spent a lot of time redirecting all of the pages from the old sites to the correct corresponding pages on the new site. If you happen to find any broken links, please let us know.

The last few months have been very busy, but at the same time they’ve been a ton of fun because we’ve been doing what we love; developing software and providing services that have reached around the globe. We still have a few things to do as well as some announcements to make. We’ll get those posted later today. Right now, it’s time to get some sleep.

The beta program has completed.  Thank you all that were interested in beta testing!  We’ll be releasing the full product shortly.

MuvEnum is looking for 20 beta testers for its latest product: MuvUnder Cover: The Album Art Sleuth, which is a Windows WPF application for automatically finding and embedding album art into the following file types: APE, ASF, FLAC, M4A, M4P, M4V, MP3, MP4, MPC, MPP, MP+, WMA, WMV, and WV.

Using Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), we’ve been able to create a unique experience that fits well within the “album cover” concept

To become a beta tester, please send an email that includes your system specifications (OS, CPU, RAM) to “removed” requesting to be a part of the “MuvUnder Cover Beta Testing Team”.

Each active beta tester will receive a free copy of both MuvUnder Cover: The Album Art Sleuth and MuvAudio2.

Once we have 20 beta testers, testing will begin. We’ve ironed out a lot of issues with our current internal testing team and hope to have the beta last for only a few weeks.

If you have any questions, feel free to post a comment and we’ll be sure to answer it

Here’s a quick sneak peek (user interface subject to change):

Number of Selected Items - Outlook 2007 is a simple plugin that adds a label to the standard toolbar which displays the number of items you currently have selected, similar to Windows Explorer. The main download http://www.muvextoe.com/release/selecteditemsoutlook2007.zip contains the Office 2007 Plugin runtime required to install the plugin. If you already have this installed, you can download the .MSI version here http://www.muvextoe.com/release/selecteditemssetup.msi.

This little gem was created out of our own desire to see the number of selected items in Outlook 2007. We’re “stat” freaks and sometimes like to easily see how many support requests we responded to in a day or the number of sales in a certain time period. We know we could do some search queries in the new (much appreciated) Vista/Office 2007 search, but we usually only think to check these numbers when we’re actually viewing the emails. We’re also used to the Windows Explorer selected objects information shown in the status bar. FYI: This will show number of selected items in any Outlook view; Contacts, Tasks, Emails, etc.

Here’s a quick preview of how it looks (the red rounded rectangle is not shown in the actual program):

It’s free, it’s simple to install, and it does the job nicely. We hope you enjoy it!
