I am a bit confused. Is this truly a digital to digital converter or are there still some losses? For archival is there any advantgaes to converting to a higher quality bit rate than the source? I am curuious as I am willing to do that to get better conversions or CD copies later on.
I just installed the demo and I am very impressed so far.

The conversion is digital. There are no advantages in converting to higher quality bit-rate than the source because it is impossible to improve the quality of a lower bit-rate file.
